About the Process

If you're looking for more information on how a divorce mediator in can help you, you've come to the right place. Our law firm follows a tried and tested process that gently guides you through your divorce proceedings in 4 simple stages. We ensure that your experience is hassle-free and takes as little time as possible for your specific case. The steps we follow are explained in detail below.

Stage 1- Free Consultation

We start by meeting to discuss the process, answer all your questions and explain the flat fee pricing. There is never any pressure to move forward. It's imperative that you make decisions in your best interest and your own timeframe.

If both parties agree to move forward, we all sign a Mediator Retainer Agreement. We can then get started in the same session or arrange to meet again at your convenience in person or by video.

Stage 2 - Negotiate an Agreement

Once we get started, no time is wasted. We start by negotiating all of the terms which will make up your divorce agreement. Everything is done in a calm, non-confrontational setting. We will discuss all the details, including custody / visitation, child support, spousal support, and the division of marital property, and every other issue you can possibly think of, all over a series of mediated sessions.

Being a seasoned matrimonial attorney with 25 years of litigation and mediation experience, you are in good hands. By the conclusion of your mediation, you will both be well versed in the most current trends in the law, how the Courts are handing issues like yours, as well as having the assistance of a divorce attorney with decades of experience to help you reach a fair compromise.

Stage 3 - Signing your Agreement

Our goal is to reach an sound agreement that works for the both of you. I will personally prepare a comprehensive divorce agreement that we review together.

Once we are finished working out all the details of your divorce agreement, the agreement is signed by both parties. You can breath a sigh of relief, we're almost done.

Stage 4 - Submissions: Almost Divorced!

Once the agreement is signed, the rest is up to me! Your part in the mediation process is completely finished. The next step is to prepare a small mountain of legal documents we submit to the court in order to finalize your divorce. Don’t worry, this step is merely a legal formality. You will NOT have to step foot in a courtroom! Once the Court signs off on the submitted documents, you will be officially divorced.
